New snow totalling less than 20cms over the past 48 hours in the alpine region.  Combined with light winds, the resulting avalanche risk today will be MODERATE making it a bit less likely you may trigger avalanches near or at upper alpine elevation ridgetops.  Expect avalanche size to be small to medium in size.  Below treeline the risk is LOW.

Restrictions on internet traffic have been reduced in Kashmir.  Guests to Gulmarg are strongly encouraged to visit the daily avalanche bulletin posted at the Base (G1) of the Gondola and our Tuesday evening avalanche awareness talk held at Pine palace heritage hotel at 7pm.

Moderate Southerly winds overnight.  Winds slabs may be present near ridgetops on North alpine aspects.   Loose snow avalanches will become more likely on South aspects with warming daytime temperatures.

Added snow measuring 25cms. at Kangdoori overnight.  Light southerly winds have produced storm slab on Northerly alpine aspects.  Loose snow will increase in risk on Southerly aspects as temperatures rise through the day.

Poorly bonded wind slab on Northerly ridgetop aspects in the alpine region.  The added weight of a single person may trigger small avalanches.   

Added snow over the past 24 hours has formed slab on Northerly aspects primarily near alpine ridgetops.  This new snow will become more unstable during a sudden temperature increase.  

The risk of triggering large avalanches in the alpine region will increase during mid-day warming temperatures.  This problem is present on all steep aspects.  Please make conservative decisions when entering the alpine backcountry.   

Strong Southerly winds today with ongoing snowfall.   Risk of large to very large natural avalanches on the Northerly alpine aspects.
