Dangerous conditions due to deep storm snow supported by weak snow at the ground.  Areas where previous avalanches have occurred have the best chance of reduced avalanche risk. Understand the present avalanche problems (below).

A large avalanche failed naturally near the end of Tuesday's storm in North Apherwat bowl (Avalanche Problem 2: Deep persistent weak layer).

A second recent avalanche on the South facing side of the same ridge into South Apherwat bowl (Avalanche Problem 1: Wind slab)
